Our trainers have specialized as behavioral therapists for horses of all breeds, ages, and disciplines. Whether your horse is a chronic “bucker” or “rearer”, a good horse in need of a tune-up, or a green horse that’s never been started, our trainers provide actionable results. They will send you and your horse home with skills you can use to strengthen your relationship together.

Do you want to ride horses?

Are you one of the hundreds of people who always dreamed of confidently striding up to a horse, throwing its saddle on, mounting up and riding off? Do you also believe that you could never actually learn how to ride a horse? Well, we think it’s time to change your way of thinking.

Whether you have never touched a horse before or are simply looking for a tune-up after not riding for a while, our lesson program is a perfect chance to jump-start your equestrian lifestyle.

Tattered Saddle provides beginner and intermediate riding lessons to children and adults of all ages. We use western tack here, but the lessons you learn with us will give you a strong foundation for trail riding, barrel racing, hunt seat, jumping, or dressage.

Tattered Saddle’s Stable at Gordon Creek  offers both private and group lessons.

Group lessons require a minimum of 2 students and have a max capacity of 5 students. These lessons are great for beginners who have learned the basics of riding a horse and are comfortable handling a horse on the ground. Group riding lessons are available as one-hour slots and should be reserved and scheduled in advance by calling Tattered Saddle at (970) 657-5463 (save 10% when you pre-book a “package” of lessons). For new students, a 30-minute private lesson is required to help our instructors determine which group you would be best suited in.

Private lessons allow an instructor to give you their undivided attention. Available in 30-minute or 60-minute reservations, private lessons are the fastest way to progress in your riding curriculum. Suitable for first time, beginner, and intermediate riders, these lessons will teach you how to catch and halter your lesson horse, tack them up, mount properly on your own, and instruct you on all of the details that will eventually make you a confident and capable horseback rider. As with group lessons, you should call us at (970) 657-5463 to discuss the details of your riding goals and book your riding lesson. You will also save 10% when you pre-book a “package” of lessons.

Khloe Wanless offers horse training in Livermore, Colorado

Khloe Wanless is one of our behavioral horse trainers. She is an industry professional with over 15 years of experience in the field who uses a combination of techniques to ensure that each training session is tailored to your horse’s personality, age, and “job.” Khloe has rehabilitated many chronic bolters, buckers, rearers, kickers, and biters by finding the source of their confusion, angst or pain and working on the root of the problem. She also starts colts (and older, un-started horses), refreshes ground manners, reinforces riding aides (buttons), and is happy to leg-up your horse for the season if they’ve had a few months off.

Khloe strives to build a bond of trust between herself, you and your horse. She believes that nothing productive happens in a bubble of fear. While she will often work with your horse one-on -one, Khloe strives to also involve the horse’s owner into the “rehabilitation” process – giving them new exercises and tools they can use for eternity – so that you can continue the healthy new relationship even when she’s no longer around.

Whether you have a horse that needs a tune-up or a complete rebuild, Khloe Wanless should be your first inquiry in the Livermore, Red Feather Lakes, Laramie and Fort Collins area. Give us a call at (970) 657-5463 to set up your evaluation today.
